CREATIVE JOURNEY

 

Clare O’Connor is an award winning Visual Artist & Designer, a graduate of IADT with a BDES in Design Communications & Interactive Media 2001 & a BA in Visual Arts Practice 2009. Originally a graphic designer and after working in the design for print arena for a number of years, Clare decided to follow a more creative route and returned to college to study Visual Arts Practice in 2006 specialising in painting, printmaking & photography. After graduating, She worked with prominent artists in Berlin & Venice as an artist assistant and in the Venice Biennale. Clare has exhibited in Ireland, Germany, Italy, the United States, China & the UK.

 

She works as an abstract painter and runs her own wearable art brand which she launched in 2018 using her vibrant paintings as the inspiration for her striking collections. Her Intuitive paintings use a dynamic interplay of organic & organised forms, complimentary & contrasting colour, stripes, mark & void. Combining an element of chance, she uses vivid colours, patterns, multiple layers & juxtaposed shapes which create movement & a sense of positive energy creating vibrant visual labyrinths to explore. While living in Venice she created a body of work called 'Navigating the Labyrinth'. She has always been fascinated with the symbolism of the labyrinth being a representation of the subconscious mind & the way in which we navigate and operate energetically throughout our day to day lives and the many energetic layers of consciousness.

 

She is hugely into self-development, finding & following our own unique path & accessing & fostering the creativity we all have innately. She has always been interested in how the creative process works and in recent years how our brain fires and how intuition, consciousness, and perception intersect in the act of making and how we as artists channel that energy and information through our work. In the creation of her visual labyrinths, she  creates spaces for reflection, mindfulness and transformation which draw you in to the here and now and connect us to our own creative power. Her paintings are tactile, multi-dimensional, energetic & dynamic. Her aim is to create art & a brand that empowers us to be ourselves, uplifts & excites us & communicates the unseen.
