This work is one of a group of paintings created in Venice which marks the beginning of my series Navigating the Labyrinth which I started in Venice and it is greatly influenced by my time living there. I have always been fascinated with the symbolism of the labyrinth being a representation of the subconscious mind. The city of Venice itself is like a physical manifestation of that labyrinth. These paintings are visually eclectic and try to communicate vibrant energy through the dynamic clash of forms, stripes, contrasting colours and found patterns from my everyday environment. This series of works include collage from my day to day life in Venice, wrapping from my favourite shops, the bags from my local Farmacia, elements which are synonymous with daily life in Venice coupled and influenced by the fantastic light & the setting which was so creatively inspiring. The paintings are then finished with a resin coating giving them a sense of depth, luminosity & vibrancy. My aim is to bring Colour, Light & Positive Energy to your home.
